                   THE MEDIEVAL STORY

               3 HOUR TOUR

In 1497, Worcester was ruled by the Guilds based at the Guildhall. An organisation with more power than the City Council of the 21st Century.

The Guilds created the Ordinances of Worcester which was a list of rules governing the City ranging from the ban on thatch roofing to the costs of cloth sold.

A tour of the City boundaries was also created during this age and it is this route that we follow for this tour today giving you an insight to the whole of Worcester during the Medieval period.

Has the boundary of Worcester changed much from 1497? What rules were made that still stand today?

I just wanted to say once again how pleased we were with yesterday’s guided tour we had with you in Worcester. I’d been to Worcester before, but hadn’t realised what a fascinating and historical place it is! The tour was both interesting and informative and included just the right mixture of facts and amusing stories. All the students really enjoyed it and learnt a lot from it. They had no real problem understanding you as you spoke both clearly and not too quickly.

We’ll certainly be using you and Discover History again in the future
